As we move into 2021, coronavirus vaccines have started to be given out, mainly in the richer, developed countries. It will take time for the majority of the population to be vaccinated, perhaps taking a large part of the year, and mostly in developed countries. In the meantime, it may be a difficult first few months in winter due to the rising infections in many countries and new lockdowns may be forthcoming. Nevertheless, despite the rising infections, investors have become more optimistic on the markets in view of the eventual economic recovery when the vaccines work to stop the spread. While the pandemic remains the main focus in 2021, other issues likely to come into view include changes in US economic and geopolitical policies under President Biden, the relationship between US and China and the impact on the rest of the world.
